Our Framework

Hi friends! Welcome to Boldly We Go, a blog (hopefully) dedicated to getting you places outside your comfort zone! I’m Vanessa, or part Bold of our Boldly we go duo. A daredevil child and youngest on the rope swing at the lake, growing up I was known for jumping off the jungle gym with my homemade parachute or as the first in the family to vote for moving abroad when Dad got a new job assignment. We bounced around a lot between schools and addresses, but it gave me the ability to relish in the everchangement of life. I took that daring with me into adulthood and marriage. Al is the opposite, lived in the same house all the way to marriage! When we started going on trips together, I wasn’t sure if Al would love the early morning wake ups and shady transportation choices as much as I did, but from the start he fell into a wanderlust from which he has yet to recover. He is the “Go” part of Boldly We Go, an avid photographer, able to drive anything under any circumstance, and the glue which holds this team together.

Our Vision

Whether its to far off exotic destinations we’ve longed to see for years or local nameless escapades, life can always be an adventure (yes, that means even during Covid!). To us, travel isn’t defined by airplanes and dollar signs, but instead, by taking the time to absorb where you are and grow, letting it become part of you. This can happen anywhere as long as you have the right mindset. A bold, intrepid attitude, the gumption to let go of the walls of that comfort zone, and see where life takes you! Are you ready to learn how to boldly go forth and do the things only your potential knows are possible?

Our Process

We are travelers first, reluctant bloggers second. In our journey around the sun, we have had countless nights feeling frustrated with how much of the same info there is online, yet how difficult it is to find the answers to the questions we needed when planning a trip. That is why this blog is here: to provide you with the info I wish someone had provided for me. It also means that we focus on the experience, not merely checking items off a list or rushing to get the perfect photo. We are not here to sell you anything, we don’t write puff pieces either, but we will offer the tips and opinions that we have garnered from our own travel experiences. Often we go somewhere and don’t get that insta-shot, and thats okay. We hope we can help you feel the same. “Bad” photos and “bad” days still make for good stories. So in the end, whether you are photo-driven in your travels or not, remember to make memories that are uniquely your own: have an emotional response to your environment, fall in love with the food and pay attention to the locals. Do not let your fear rule you, rather let it drive you forward, defying conventions, knowing that the reward is in both destination and journey.
